One of the new names at the PGA Merchandise Show last week was Amanda Palmer, a line of luxury and performance golf apparel for women at the high end of the market.
The premiere collection features 12 pieces, including golf dresses that take their influence from traditional tennis dresses, skorts, shorts, tops and pants. The skirts and dresses were shown with separate under shorts that can be worn during play but that are not necessary meant for apres golf.
Fabrics include microfiber, twill, stretch fabrics and cotton-blends, and Spandex is added to some garments for shape and product integrity. The blends will also provide UV protection and help keep players dry and cool, the company says.

The line is also full of special detailing like European glass or hand-made wooden buttons, piping or fringe detail for a classic appearance. The color palate is based in neutral tones and black and does not include prints.
The Amanda Palmer line is named for the niece of legendary golfer Arnold Palmer . A graduate of Pennsylvania State University’s Turfgrass Science program, Palmer further enhanced her knowledge of the golf industry at the Palmer Course Design Company in Ponte Vedre Beach, Fla., and later developed her fashion industry experience at Elite Model Management in Atlanta, GA.

“I grew up with golf and always wanted to see something more fashionable than Bermuda shorts and the traditional golf polo,” Palmer says. “I’m excited to bring something new and out-of-the-norm to the golf apparel market.”

Palmer also points out that women golfers want to feel stylish yet comfortable, and there’s no reason why they have to conform to traditional golf apparel expectations. “Women can look classic yet stylish, be comfortable but not too sporty,” she adds.

The initial Amanda Palmer Collection will be available in upper-end golf shops.
